Karen Frenkiel

Principal Consultant

Intrepid adventurer and people professional

Karen Frenkiel has her sights set far, and her work close to her heart. A keen traveller, she has a thirst for adventure and challenge – a mindset that gives her the confidence to explore new solutions and ways of thinking rather than being constrained by a strict pathway.

Karen Frenkiel holds the mantle of the first recruit in HR consulting at Pitcher Partners in 2014 – in what is today a successful team. Her undergraduate Arts degree, majoring in Sociology and Criminology, speaks to her interest in people and broader society – a passion she continued to develop with a Masters in HR Management.

Karen has deep and invaluable experience across strategic advice and coaching, HR projects, hands-on operational HR support, employee relations, recruitment and talent management. She also has operated across learning and leadership development, learning and facilitation, employee engagement and organisational change management.

With unwavering support from management and her colleagues, Karen is grateful for the freedom and flexibility to adapt, evolve and create client-centred solutions at Pitcher Partners. She relishes the opportunity to grow professionally, and Pitcher Partners is supporting her in undertaking a Masters in Entrepreneurship & Innovation offered through its International Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) program operated in conjunction with Swinburne University of Technology. “Studying business innovation was challenging: it changes the way you converse with clients, family and friends, because it alters the way you think.”

A keen traveller, Karen has seen the northern lights in Finland and skied in Austria. Her thirst for adventure, and taking any challenge thrown at her, is the same approach she takes with her work. She is confident exploring opportunities as they arise and giving them a go rather than mapping out a strict pathway. “As long as you’re learning and contributing positively to the client and firm, you can afford to take risks.”

This attitude is what feeds her growth mindset, even during challenging periods. She keeps her eye on the big picture and understands that trials and tribulations give her new strengths and an edge to be able to thrive in an ever-evolving industry.

Pitcher Partners is made up of a broad range of people from diverse beginnings. Meet all of our career ambassadors and read their personal journeys of success here.
